The demo at the Golf Dome for the Central Canada Outdoor Show was a resounding success. As soon as our obedience began, people started to gravitate towards the ring, attracted by the barking. We started with puppy tug and obedience and gradually worked our way up to SchH 3 obedience. Our dogs looked very impressive despite the small ring area provided to us. Protection followed the same format with young dogs showing the progression from barking for a bite to SchH 3 control and power.
This was a true test of our dogs’ temperaments as kids hung balloons and arms over the barriers and moose calls rang out in the background. The building was packed and distractions abounded. Our dogs did us and the sport of Schutzhund proud.
We even had an exhibitor ask us when we would be done, not to stop us early but to get their audience back. Apparently the noise of barking and clapping from the crowd made it impossible for them to begin until we were done.
Several handler and dog teams stayed in the ring after the demo to answer questions and let kids pet their dogs.
A big thank you goes to Bob for doing the puppy tug and the helper work. Thanks also to Trish for stepping in and taking over the announcing so I could concentrate on my dog. Lastly thanks to John Carvalho and Mike Menard for taking pictures throughout the demo.
It was great to have all the club members out there supporting and promoting our club.
A super time was had by all.
